Important Dates for Spring 2017

Here are some important dates for Spring 2017:

  • March 13, 2017: First week of practice
  • April 8, 2017: First game of the season 
  • May 20-21, 2017: U10 and U12 tournament at Columbia Gas Fields
  • May 27, 2017: Last game of the season

Announcement: Mike Strickland has been elected to Coaching Coordinator

Announcement: Mike Strickland has been elected to Coaching Coordinator position. He is currently coaching the U9 girls United. This winter, he obtained his US Soccer National E License and has been coaching a team of U10 and U9 Elk River Soccer girls in indoor soccer. We are looking forward to seeing his experience and expertise help our coaches develop Elk River Soccer players.

New referee certification class

New referee class will be held at Dupont Middle School on Feb. 25, 2017 starting at 9am and ending around 5pm. Please contact Bryan Shepherd at GTSCRefereeCoordinator@gmail.com to sign up. Cost of the class is free, but will require a $50 registration fee with US Soccer.

National E License coaching course offered

This is the registration page for the upcoming National E License coaching course.

The “E” license coaching course is designed to:
Develop the core coaching competencies necessary to effectively teach the 9-12 year old athlete and team.
Help coaches understand the characteristics and needs of an athlete in the basic stage of our long term athlete development model.

Establish a foundation of knowledge and experience in order to proceed through the sequence of coaching development courses. 

 What are the specific target outcomes of the course?

To understand and effectively apply the principles of Long Term Athlete Development.
To demonstrate competency in planning an age-appropriate training session.

To demonstrate the essential competencies to execute a team training session that is focused on a technical function of the game.

To understand concepts and recognize the principles of attacking and defending in a small-sided game environment. (3v3 to 9 v 9 adaptable to local competition structure)


The course will last 18 hours and will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm @ Capital High School in Charleston, WV. Interested coaches can contact Chris Kessell at chriskessell304@gmail.com.
Coaches must attend all sessions to obtain certificate. Cost for the course is $75.00.
