KVSL Member Clubs,
On and before June 30th, 2016, players, parents, teams, and clubs from all over the eastern seaboard will be visiting our wonderful state to compete in the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships in Barboursville and Huntington.
This is the 2nd year of West Virginia Soccer Association’s successful bid to host this regional soccer event. As we closed our last bid out in 2009 and 2010, one of our attributes that stood out to our visitors was our people. Not only the amount of volunteers that supported the championships, but their quality as well. These wonderful qualities factored in to our 2nd successful bid. We have all heard stories about how kind, generous, and wonderful the people of West Virginia are and we have demonstrated that through this event. Our local communities have stepped up in 2009, 2010, last year in 2015, and we are needed again this year as we close out this bid in grand fashion.
Opening ceremonies will begin on June 30th, 2016 and teams will compete over the weekend and conclude with regional championships on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016. Just as last year, Kanawha Valley Soccer League will assist West Virginia Soccer Association in conducting the tournament at the Scott Orthopedics YMCA Kennedy Center Site just off of State Route 2 in Huntington. As the biggest league in the state, KVSL must step up. We have just over 3400 families involved in our league this spring season. We need as many 80 volunteers per day at our regional tournament site. We can do this. We have a chance to show West Virginia Soccer Association and all visiting State Associations how great Kanawha Valley Soccer is. There are positions that both youth and adults can volunteer for and from personal experience, it was a blast for me and my son to work together. We are quickly approaching this event on June 30th through July 5th. Please encourage your teams and parents to get out and get involved. At our upcoming KVSL Season Tournaments, we will have a tent to set up for volunteer registration and to answer any questions you may have.
The site to register as a volunteer is westvirginia2016.com. Please visit that site and find a time slot that works for you! We thank you and look forward to seeing you there!
